We offer online courses from 9:00 am - 4:00 pm daily. We can engage up to 25 students at one time during the course. 

Parent Engagement occurs from 4:30 pm - 7:30 pm Tuesday-Thursday and 12:00 pm - 3:00 pm on Saturdays. 

Courses are offered on a first come, first serve basis.

Program Modules and Descriptions

Module 1: Character Education/Social Emotional Learning

Character Education: Facilitators will teach and model ethical principles and standards that will propel participants to make the right choices despite the negative influences around them. We will also focus on the qualities that define us: Who we are, what we stand for, and how we treat others.

Social Emotional Learning: The process through which the participants will acquire and effectively apply the knowledge, attitudes, and skills necessary to understand and manage emotions, set and achieve positive goals, feel and show empathy for others, establish and maintain positive relationships, and make responsible decisions.

Module 2: Self -Management

Management of or by oneself; the taking of responsibility for one's own behavior and well-being. This module will teach, assist, empower, and model for participants how to become the best version of themselves. Participants will understand who they are, discover their strengths, and learn to improve their week. Module components include:
1. Self-Esteem: Learning about, understanding, valuing, and having confidence in your own worth and abilities.
2. Self-Advocacy: Self-advocacy is the process of speaking up for yourself. Self-advocacy is learning how to speak up for yourself, making your own decisions about your own life, learning how to get information so that you can understand things that are of interest to you, finding out who will support you in your journey, knowing your rights and responsibilities, problem solving, listening and learning, reaching out to others when you need help and friendship, and learning about self-determination – knowing yourself, knowing your needs, and knowing how to get what you need.
3. Self-Awareness: Self-awareness is having a clear perception of your personality, including strengths, weaknesses, thoughts, beliefs, motivation, and emotions. Self-awareness allows you to understand other people, how they perceive you, your attitude and your responses to them in the moment.
4. Self-Love: Self-love is the belief you hold that you are a valuable and worthy person. It means having a high regard for your own well-being and happiness. Self-love means taking care of your own needs and not sacrificing your well-being to please others. Self-love means not settling for less than you deserve.
5. Self-Responsibility: State or fact of being responsible, answerable, or accountable for something within one's power, control, or management.
6. Self-Respect: Confidence in oneself; a feeling that one is behaving with honor and dignity.
7. Self-Efficacy: One's belief in one's ability to succeed in specific situations or accomplish a task.

Module 3: Life Skills

Participants will learn essential life skills and how to effectively utilize them in their lives. Life skills are behaviors that enable individuals to adapt and deal effectively with the demands and challenges of life. The Ten Core Life Skills as laid down by WHO are:
1. Self-awareness
2. Empathy
3. Critical thinking
4. Creative thinking
5. Decision making
6. Problem solving
7. Effective communication
8. Interpersonal relationship
9. Coping with stress
10. Coping with emotion

Module 4: Decision Making

We will help participants make more thoughtful and deliberate decisions in every area of their lives. We develop real-life role-play situations with information from present, past, and future decisions that participants had/will have to make.

Participants will learn, understand, and implement the Decision-Making Process:
1. Define your problem 
2. Gather information and resources
3. List options
4. Weigh and compare options
5. Make a decision 
6. Make a plan to reach your goal 
7. Evaluate the decision

Module 5: Etiquette

Students will learn acceptable behavior in various social, personal, and professional situations. This will be an active discussion with demonstrations by the facilitator.

Module 6: Education Intervention

Tutoring for areas that participants may be having trouble with academically.  

Module 7: Career Exploration

We will explore various careers based on their strengths, skills, and desires. Participants will look at the education and skills that are required for their career choice(s). We will look at the salary associated with those careers and the type of lifestyle choices that will support those salaries. They will also learn/engage in the following:

 Dress for Success

Module 8: You Got Skills 

 Social Skills
 Interpersonal Skills
 Communication Skills
 Negotiation Skills

Module 9: Financial Literacy 

Participants will learn skills and knowledge that will assist them to make informed and effective decisions with their financial resources. 

Modules include:
 Budgeting
 Financial Mindset
 Opening and Managing Bank Accounts
 Understanding Credit and Credit Cards
 Financial Goal Setting
 Money and Everyday Living: Expect and prepare for the unexpected
 Debt Basics

Module 10: Leadership Development

Participants will take The Student Leadership Competencies Inventory which allows them to take short assessments to measure their proficiency levels in each of the 8 competency clusters:
 Public Speaking
 Managing Conflict
 Student Leadership Competency Inventory Assessment
 Learning and Reasoning
 Interpersonal Interaction
 Group Dynamics
 Communication
 Civic Responsibility
Facilitators will conduct a series of hands-on lessons and assignments for each competency area.

Module 11: Health and Wellness

 Healthy eating for a lifetime: Introducing participants to healthy foods as a lifestyle  
 Lifestyle Illnesses
 Let’s get physical: The importance of physical activity; designing regular physical activities based on activities the participant enjoys
 Mental Wellbeing: Learning about how participants’ thoughts impact their lives
 Emotional Wellbeing: Building on what was learned in the SEL Module

Module 12: Creating a Life Plan

Participants will create a plan that will articulate their personal priorities; provide the specific actions necessary to take them from where they are to where they want to be in every major area of their lives. They will be able to tweak and adjust as necessary for the rest of their lives.

Module 13: Coping Skills

This course will help participants identify strategies to manage stressful situations, obtain help when appropriate, learn tools and techniques to support themselves through a difficult time. Additionally, we will introduce ways to reduce your demands and increase your resources to help you manage the stressors in your life. 

The course facilitator will also collaborate with participants to work on tools and techniques to appropriately deal with specific stressful situations they encounter. A large emphasis is placed on active coping.
